The art competition was a big success on Sunday. It was a sunny day and the artists found suitable spots around the park and Ponte a Serraglio to create their masterpieces.
Finished paintings appeared quickly.
The judges worked hard to find winners…here they are…first to 5th.
Well done the people from Borgo degli Artisti for a great event, now in its 9th year.

The beautiful Lima River runs through the middle of Bagni di Lucca. The water is clear and cold and home to trout and water birds. Lately it is also home to water sports, rafting, canoeing, canyoning as well as the usual swimming and fishing. These activities bring lots of visitors to Bagni di Lucca.

On Monday this is what the same scene looked like.
Somebody has been dumping filth into the river, usually on a Monday. The police have been notified but there are no results yet. How anyone could do this is beyond me, there must be alternative! This is just lazy and irresponsible.
Sombody must know who is doing this…step forward and rat on them. The river will thank you.

Paul Davies from San Cassiano has been out and about taking photos of the gorgeous wild flowers beside the roads on the way to his pretty village. With all the rain we had this spring they are putting on a great show.

Every season has something wonderful to offer in the villages of Bagni di Lucca.
Pieve di Controne is one of my favourite villages in Bagni di Lucca. It is a little different from some of the others as it has quite a bit of flat land, rather than being perched on the side of a mountain.
There are some lovely cultivated areas.
It has an amazing church with 2 facades.
Pieve di Controne is a collection of mostly stone houses…
…with pretty gardens and fruit trees.
I am always attracted to old doors, especially green doors, and Pieve di Controne has a fine selection.
There is usually a sleepy cat or 2 in the villages.
If you visit Bagni di Lucca take the time to visit some of the mountain villages.

The Red Cross had their first event in Villa Fiori tonight. When we arrived the party was in full swing.
The children were having a great time.
Beer and wine were being served.
The tents were filling up.
The menu posted.
We ordered and took our seats. Beside us the Burraco tables were ready.
Soon they filled up too.
I forgot to show you our food, but it was very tasty.
We walked home as it was beginning to get dark.
