I can’t get enough of the fabulous Tiglio tunnels on the way into Fornoli and Ponte a Serraglio. They look amazing in each season, but autumn is special.
It is raining now and soon all the leaves will be gone.

Autumn delights
Autumn is a wonderful time of the year in Bagni di Lucca. This year the weather has been glorious.
One of the best things about autumn is the delicious produce. There are chestnuts, cachi, pomegranates, clementines, pumpkins and porcini mushrooms.
Make the most of these wonderful autumn treats!
Seasons
Just before I left Bagni di Lucca in November I went with friends into the glorious mountains above Montefegatesi. It was a beautiful autumn day.
We came upon a shepherd with his well kept goats. I love to see the old traditions carried on…long may it continue.
When I return tomorrow the landscape will be quite different. I look forward to another visit to the mountains.
Autumn in Pieve di Monti di Villa
Local photographer Paul Anthony Davies has taken some lovely photos of autumn in Pieve di Monti di Villa. He has kindly allowed me to share them with you.
Pieve di Monti di Villa has a restaurant, Rifugio Fiori, which is open part time.
It also has a bar, a great addition to the village.
Autumn is a gorgeous season in the mountain villages.
Don’t miss the living navity in Pieve di Monti di Villa on 4th December. It is a wonderful event.

Driving along mountain roads in autumn brings lots of rewards. Winter is not far off now, but earlier in autumm the colours were glorious.
The colours are amazing.
When the late afternoon sun hits the hills they light up.
In winter most trees will be bare against the cold.
All seasons have their beauty.

Autumn arrives
Cool weather and misty mornings and golden light have arrived in Bagni di Lucca.
Autumn is a beautiful season. I love the cool mornings and evenings. Soon the leaves will fall.
