The annual festival to celebrate Pinocchio will return this weekend.
This festival is a lot of fun, something for everyone.
Last weekend in Bagni di Lucca was the wonderful event, Shelley a Bagni di Lucca…la poesia e il ballo.
The event was attended by people in costumes of the period when the poet Shelley visited Bagni di Lucca. A crowd gathered at Villa Web and walked to various sites in the area. The photos below were taken by Rita Gualtieri.
There was a dance at the casino in Ponte a Serraglio in the evening.
Look at the Facebook pages of Marco Pistolozzi, Valerio Ceccarelli and Rita Gualtieri for some wonderful photos of the well dressed characters.
I think the enthusiasm the partipants bring to these events is great. I wish I had been there.
Summer events continue…
The first one celebrates Percy Shelley, the British poet who spent time in Bagni di Lucca with his friend Lord Byron.

On 1st September there will be a concert in the English Cemetery where the renovation of tombs and monuments continues.
Talk to the people at the information centre in La Villa for more information.
Summer is a busy time in Bagni di Lucca. Here are some more events coming up.
Sunday 5th is a busy day with 2 events.
The inauguration of a photographic exhibition of immigtation stories will be at the Oratorio della Madonna del Rosario in Casabasciana. This is one I would love to see. The exhibition will be there until 19th August.

I love sbandieratori! I wish I could be in Brandeglio to see the flag throwers. Let’s hope it is a fine day on Sunday.
…and another in San Cassiano di Controne.
This is a list I found with lots of upcoming events…something for everyone.
This is a list of events in Casabasciana.
Outdoor cinema seems to be popular this summer. I’m sure these events will be well attended.
The beautiful pool in Bagni di Lucca was opened to much celebration. Thank you Rosi for taking photos and sharing the event with us.
It would not be an Italian celebration without food.
The pool is in the most magnificent setting with views across the mountains and has all the style of a 1950s movie. It is great that the renovations have enabled it to be open for at least some of the summer season.
Here are some more photos of the gorgeous pool taken by Elizabeth Nelson…a big fan of the pool.
Opening hours…9.00 – 19.00
Entrance fee…€8.00
After 15.30…€6.50

Next week in Lucca the annual Verdemura will be held. It begins Friday 7th April and continues on Saturday and Sunday. It is in a new location this year, near Porta San Donato on the stunning wall of Lucca rather than Porta Santa Maria.
This is a great place to find fabulous things for your garden.
The following weekend will be the Azalea Festival at Borgo a Mozzano. The town will be decorated and there will be excellent plants for sale and much more.
With a bit of luck some glorious spring weather will accompany these 2 wonderful events.
The annual spring walk around Bagni di Lucca will take place on Monday 2nd April. You can either walk 2, 4, 10, 18 or 20 kilometres, beginning in Fornoli. You can begin the walk between 7.30am and 8.30am.
This is a fun way to see a different side of Bagni di Lucca. Get a group of friends together and chose your walk. Refreshments are provided along the way and the tracks are well marked.
