Santa’s Day

Bagni di Lucca Villa put on a wonderful event on Sunday with Santa as the star of the day. The streets were filled with happy children involved in activities, workshops and a personal meeting with Santa at Villa Web.
Of course there was delicious food and, best of all, community spirit. Dozens of volunteers worked together to create a wonderful day of creativity and fun.

Thank you Priscilla Valentino for allowing me to share the photos. Well done to all those involved in an excellent Bagni di Lucca event.

A big day in Bagni di Lucca

Sunday December 15 is shaping up to be a big day. Bagni di Lucca Villa is the place to be for Christmas celebrations and more…

First of all, the Puccini’s Women exhibition, arranged by the Borgo degli Artisti, at Circolo dei Forestieri has extended. Here is another chance to see the art works from 10.30 – 18.30. Below are a few examples.

Santa’s big day is not to be missed! There will be lots of fun activities and food.

Look out for the beautiful nativity scenes at Circolo dei Forestieri.

Delicious food at La Ninfa

Simone, the young and passionate chef at La Ninfa is cooking up food the locals love. It is great to see the newly renovated hotel doing well. A local contact sent me some photos. I look forward to trying it when I return to Ponte a Serraglio in early 2025.

A Presepi walk in Montefegatesi on Saturday 7th December.

At Cantabruna in Fornoli on Sunday 8th December there will be necci and vin brûle from midday.

Loss in Ponte a Serraglio

Ponte a Serraglio has lost its lovely fruit and vegetable shop. Piera and her husband have run the shop since 2018 and it has been a great addition to the piazza. I liked to see Piera’s happy face and I loved watching her children playing before they went to school. I will miss them.

They have begun a new venture in Dieciemo and I wish them the best.

We have also lost Giampaolo and Maria Laura Calissi who have sold the Bridge Hotel after decades in Ponte a Serraglio. The well dressed Giampaolo has always been a friendly face in the piazza. They have certainly earned their retirement. I hope they enjoy wonderful times with their family.

It is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. I look forward to meeting the new owners and wish them every success.

Library opening and the Living Nativity

The beautiful library in the English church in La Villa will be celebrated after the restoration on Saturday 30th November.

The Living Nativity is one of the loveliest celebrations in Bagni di Lucca. This year the Presepe Vivente is being held in on December 1st in Pieve di Monte di Villa.

Puccini’s women

At 6.30pm on 29th November in the Sala Rosa at Circolo dei Forestieri will be the inauguration of an art exhibition of 50 art works relating to the women in Puccini’s life, his personal life and the characters in his operas. The paintings and sculpture are by local, national and international and student artists.
