Omaggio alla Donna 2018

The Casino in Ponte a Serraglio will come alive again this March for the Omaggio alla Donna to coincide with International Women’s Day. For the 6th year there will be a wonderful series of events over 10 days, beginning with the opening celebration on 8th March at 8.30pm.

Of special interest to English speakers will be the talks given by Australian film maker Karen Buczynski-Lee on the New Media, the New Woman & the Advanced Political Courage, and Dr Jocelynne A. Scott from the UK who will speak about the Struggle for Personhood and the Rights of Woman. They will speak at 5.30pm on 15th March.

Entry to the exhibitions is free and open every day from 4.00pm – 7.00pm.

There is something for everyone here…don’t miss it!

There has been a series of wonderful events for children and their families lately at the theatre in La Villa.

Lots of people attended and had a great time. Well done Wanda!

It is great to see new activities in Bagni di Lucca. It is possible that there will be another series in the new year.

Rain on the parade

Today it rained in Bagni di Lucca, which was disappointing for the Pinocchio festival. Despite the rain Pinocchio arrived on time in his red car.

A band followed.

School children and their families and entertainers came next.

The damp group arrived at the piazza in front of Circolo Forestieri.

The new mayor opened the festivities.

The children looked wonderful and each had a part to play.

I’m not sure who the bearded one was.

I think this is Geppetto at work on his wooden boy.

There was a band…

and dancing.

There were lots of stalls and things to see and do, but the weather kept people away while I was there. I hope the clouds cleared later.

This is a great event. Congratulations to everyone involved in putting it together again this year.

Art in La Villa

Borgo degli Artisti opened their art exhibition last night at the Hotel Regina in La Villa. The event was well attended and the art interesting.

The exhibition is open this weekend. Go to first floor of the Hotel Regina.

Art in Vico Pancellorum

Vico Pancellorum has hosted an art event every year.

The beautiful church at the top of the village makes the perfect venue. The walk up from the bottom is worth the effort for the view alone.

Some of the old doorways and windows along the path would make good art subjects.

There was a large crowd in the church.

It is good to see these lovely old churches open.

There was an excellent choice of art on display.
