The piazza in front of Circolo dei Forestieri is being renovated and will no longer be a carpark. It will become what it used to be, a lovely open space for people to gather.
The restaurant is still open and can be accessed via a path at the side, near the Teatro Accademia.
There will obviously be disruption for sometime, but I think it will be worth it when Bagni di Lucca has a restored piazza.
A Ginkgo Biloba is to be planted in the Contessa Casalini park in La Villa on Saturday and people are invited to attend. These trees are absolutely gorgeous, what a great addition to the park.
Sunday was fine with some sun so I went for a walk up to La Villa and spotted a fountain I have never seen before. It is on the edge of the SS Brennero near the Ponte Nuovo.
I think it is stunning and would love to know more about it. Perhaps somebody out there knows.

It is almost time for the next second hand market in La Villa.
The market will be held in the main street of La Villa this Sunday. There will be antiques, collectables and lots of great things.
I wish I was around to see La Villa lit up for Christmas. Fortunately Valerio Ceccarelli was on hand to take some photos of the first night of the lights.

I am happy to report that the lovely lady in the fountain in the park in La Villa has been restored and replaced after being damaged a few months ago.
It is good to see her back.
Casa Tolomei is the beautiful house where Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning stayed when they visited Bagni di Lucca.
It was recently bought by Laura and Andy and they have worked hard to bring the building back to life. Their renovation is remarkable.
In 2016 they finished the upper floor and had B&B rooms available to rent. This year there is a self catering option which includes a suite with 2 bedrooms and bathroom plus the stunning frescoed living room and adjacent kitchen.
For summer the whole upper floor will be available. The rental options will be 2 independent self-catering apartments or the whole floor for larger groups…8 – 12 people.
The lovely garden has an above ground pool, with plans for an inground pool this year.
Italian lessons will also be available at Casa Tolomei.
