Preloved

Ponte a Serraglio has an excellent preloved homewares shop run by Auser. I am constantly surprised by the range and quality of the items on offer. The hand crocheted table cloth in the first photo is now mine.

The goods are all donated and the proceeds go to people who need a bit of help.

Here are the winter hours.

Community centre open in Ponte a Serraglio

The Community Centre was opened yesterday in the old theatre in Ponte a Serraglio.

There lots of books, activities, computers and more…all done by a team from Auser and the Comune.

A lot of work has been done to set up the room.

For the next couple of weeks there will be art by 2 local artists on display. Open in the afternoon from 5.00 for a couple of hours.

There is something for everyone here. I hope lots of people visit. Formal hours are still being worked out.

Auser has a group of excellent shops nearby..preloved home wares. It looks like a well set up antique shop.

There is a preloved clothing shop.

There is also a place where you can have alterations done or use a sewing machine.

Well done Auser on the latest venture.

Farmers’ markets in Bagni di Lucca

A small farmers’ market has begun Monday mornings in La Villa, in the square behind the Teatro Accademico, near the walking bridge.

Local producers from the area are on hand to sell their products. We get to meet and talk to people who grow our food.

The market will also be held in Piazza degli Alpini in Cafaggio, Fornoli, on Thursday morning.

This is a great initiative. It is excellent to support local food producers. I bought something from each stand and I am delighted with my purchases. Let’s hope it is a great success.

Beautiful things in Bagni di Lucca

There is a new shop in Bagni di Lucca, Villa. It is called Flora Gioh Donatella. We are lucky to have artist Scarlaty Arribabene and her beautiful designs in our town.

She studied modern art at Moma in New York and now shows and sells her work in her shop in Bagni di Lucca. All pieces from Flora Gioh Donatella are made with love by Scarlaty. She makes jewellery with a botanical theme. Each piece of the collection represents leaves, flowers and delicate fragments of nature.

She also makes deliciously fragrant candles.

Donatella is a line of paintings that combine shapes and textures, harmony and contradiction.

The shop is bright, spacious and inviting.

I met the delightful artist recently and I wish her the best in her new venture.

Flora Gioh Donatella is in Via Umberto I, at the post office end of the street.
