It is with regret that we have said farewell to the current owners of Circolo dei Forestieri in Bagni di Lucca.
We will all miss the smiling face of lovely Rita. She and her team have offered excellent, friendly service and lots of delicious food.
I will miss pasta fritta the most!
It simply was not possible to go to Circolo and not order pasta fritta. It is never as good anywhere else.
I wish Rita and her team the very best in the future. They have left big shoes to fill.

17 years ago we found this lovely place. It was the first restaurant we ate at in Bagni. We sat out on the balcony overlooking the river and that’s where the dream of homeownership there began. Six months later my daughter and I were back and I have the most precious photo of her having her first Italian hot chocolate. Thick creamy almost like hot pudding. Very different than our hot chocolate. We’ve watched the location be open, closed, renovated, open. I do hope someone plans to keep it going.
I do too. I have been going there for 22 years. Rita and her team were the best. There was always a friendly face and cheerful service. I also hope someone steps up to take over.

It is hoped that somebody will step up to take over. That would be good, not the same, but good.
It’s always tough when a favourite place closes. I never went there, but any place that served good pasta will be missed. Wishing them all the best.
It is sad that Circolo has closed. I have heard that it will be taken over by new people, which will be good.
