All over Italy grapes are ripening on the vines. My friends invited me to help pick their grapes to make wine. I happily agreed.
The setting of the vineyard is lovely and it was a gorgeous day.
The grapes are looking excellent…they taste good too.
Time to pick grapes.
Time for lunch…with some of last year’s wine.
Thank you for inviting me to be part of the day, it was fun and I look forward to sampling the wine when it is ready.
Those grapes look superb!
They are delicious. I admit to eat some while picking.
What a fun day. I’ve always wanted to get involved in the harvest!
It is a fun things to do. Alfredo’s vineyard is very well kept.
where is the vineyard located? Grapes look very good.
The vineyard is above La Villa. The grapes obviously liked the hot dry summer.
Now that seems like a fun day! Cheers!!!!
It was fun, a bit hot, but it all went well.
I have always longed to be in Italy during this time since I have known about graoe picking and olive harvesting. I hope someday I can be a part of it .. What a fun day!
It is a fun thing to do. The more hands the better.
Someday!
And the wine is good to!!
I know, we like Alfredo’s wine.
Pecorino ,Fresh bread, red wine, a lovely autumn day in a vineyard with friends; what else could one ask for ! Cheers or should I say salute. It seems strange that your picking grapes and we are just starting with bud burst.
My sister has a vineyard and winery in Victoria. Bud burst would be underway there soon.
Which region Debra? We are in the King Valley ( NE Victoria ) with many other Italian Australians and we have begun to grow a lot of Italian varietals. Here is a link to our area. http://www.winesofthekingvalley.com.au/ Wherever Italians go they seem to plant grapes, a fig tree, and just about anything else edible.
If you and Jim are ever in the area, drop in! We already have Queenslanders coming down for La Dolce Vita weekend.
My sister’s wine is called Curly Flat. They are in the Macedon region and produce some of the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Australia.
I think there are a lot of people about who would happily volunteer for grape-picking duty,
particularly if there’s a good lunch in it!
Perhaps the local grape growers should put up notices in the bars to invite people to join in.
What an incredible experience….I need to do something like this too!
It is a fun thing to do, I recommend it.
