At the park above Colle is a beautiful memorial to the Alpini, Italy’s mountain soldiers. They are light infantry troops specialising in mountain combat. They are known as Penne Nere (Black Feathers) thanks to the raven feather worn on their distinctive hats.
Unfortunately the little chapel was hit by a tree in the recent storm. Chris, who lives nearby, took the photo.
There is a prayer inside the chapel.
Let’s the chapel will be OK.
I do hope that work will soon be done on the little chapel to repair any damage.
It is tiny, so it shouldn’t take too much to fix it.
What a shame. Our guests love the walk to the chiesina. Hopefully not too much damage is done. Rod
It is a great walk up to the park. I’m sure the Chiesina will be fixed.
Such a quaint little chapel and a very big tree. Yes let’s hope that the chapel will be OK
So many trees were blown over, I’m surprised more things were not hit.
We have been there during one of our stays. A charming little church. I hope it isn’t too badly damaged.

I also hope the park at La Villa one day returns to its former glory.
Hope it’ll soon be back to shape. Rhere’s another chapel to the alpini at Rocca above Borgo di Mozzano in our area.
I will look out for it.
I hope too dear Debra, this little chapel so beautiful and also so meaningful. Thank you, love, nia
It is a lovely little building. I’m sure it will be repaired.
Speriamo di si!
I’m sure it will be repaired.
Hopefully, the damage is not too extensive and it will soon be fixed.
We have several Alpini in the area, so I’m sure it will be fixed.
Under normal conditions, is it open to visitors?
It is really tiny. I have never found the gate open, but you can always see inside.
I hope its restored fully asap, what a lovely tribute to fallen Italian soldiers. Must go and have a look next time we’re over.
Compared with a lot of other buildings it looks well cared for. I am sure it will be done up again.
Nice chapel! 🙂
Where is it again? Could you give directions?
Walk up from Ponte a Serraglio through Bagni Caldi and on to Colle. Go through the little collection of houses and follow the walking path to the top of the hill and you will find it.
