Autumn

The heat of summer is behind us and the days are cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings. We have had rain and storms and I often wake up to mists rolling over the hills around Ponte a Serraglio.

The river is full of water after the low levels of summer. After heavy rain it turned brown with mud.

One morning I watched a fisherman hoping for a catch below my balcony.

Trees are beginning to change colour.

The magnolias on the bridge that didn’t do well over summer began to thrive once the weather cooled.

Bees and other insects love the flowers.

I hope the flowers last a bit longer.

All seasons are beautiful in Bagni di Lucca.

  1. Thanks so much – We’ll be there 8 – 10th October this year – for the glorious autumnal colours! And with a bit of luck there might be a Castagne festival on somewhere close by.

  2. Lovely pictures you have taken. Heading out to Pieve Monti Di Villa tommorow after 2years away. Looking forward to it no matter what the weather, as you say it’s such a beautiful area.

    • I am not planning to come home until mid next year. I have no desire to pay a fortune for an airfare and stay in a hotel room for 2 weeks. I am waiting until Australia gets itself sorted.
