The heat of summer is behind us and the days are cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings. We have had rain and storms and I often wake up to mists rolling over the hills around Ponte a Serraglio.

The river is full of water after the low levels of summer. After heavy rain it turned brown with mud.

One morning I watched a fisherman hoping for a catch below my balcony.

Trees are beginning to change colour.

The magnolias on the bridge that didn’t do well over summer began to thrive once the weather cooled.

Bees and other insects love the flowers.

I hope the flowers last a bit longer.

All seasons are beautiful in Bagni di Lucca.
Thanks so much – We’ll be there 8 – 10th October this year – for the glorious autumnal colours! And with a bit of luck there might be a Castagne festival on somewhere close by.
I haven’t heard of any chestnut festivals yet. I hope some happen this year.
Lovely pictures you have taken. Heading out to Pieve Monti Di Villa tommorow after 2years away. Looking forward to it no matter what the weather, as you say it’s such a beautiful area.
I love autumn in Bagni di Lucca. It is very pretty when the leaves change colour and fall.
Paul what your ties to the Pieve?
Autumn has always been my favourite season. That golden light suits the place.
I love it too. I can’t decide whether I like spring or autumn the best.
Aaaah, lovely Ponte. The marigolds look terrific!! Enjoy the cooler weather.
The flowers took their time, but now they look great.
Lovely photographs. Will be there 12th October to move in the apartment finally. Looking forward to seeing you.
I hope everything goes well for your return.
Your passion for this place is abundantly clear and also, understood. Wonderful images, thank you.
I do love Bagni di Lucca! Thank you for your comment.
Great photos, Your bridge marigolds are doing very well. Any plans to come to Australia yet ?
I am not planning to come home until mid next year. I have no desire to pay a fortune for an airfare and stay in a hotel room for 2 weeks. I am waiting until Australia gets itself sorted.
Lovely to see the flowers on the bridge doing so well. They certainly are cheery welcome to the piazza.
The flowers finally came good after looking very ordinary all summer. They might last another month.
That looks lovely – October is the season of mists here too
Keep up the good work Debra
