The Pinocchio festival returned to Bagni di Lucca on the weekend.
It was opened by the mayor and a band.
Thank you to Rosi for the photos above, I missed the start.
The band played and some young spectators were keen to try their dance steps.
There were stalls selling all kinds of things and the stall owners got into the spirit of things by dressing up.
It was fun to see some wool preparation, old equipment and some serious knitting and crochet.
…and some wood sawing.
There were stilt walkers and magicians to entertain the crowds.
…a slide for the children.
Best of all are the children playing old fashioned games with their parents watching close by.
This little girl looks very pretty with her painted face.
This is is one cool dude.
I like the mode of transport.
Even Pinocchio needs a rest.
This festival is excellent. I have been to a couple now and it is a fun weekend in La Villa…long may it continue.
Gosh, that looks like fun for young and old.
The knitting/crocheting ladies are an echo of their forebears, who would have been knitting and chatting in the same manner, no doubt.
I loved to see the knitting ladies. I come from a family of knitting and sewing.
If I am not mistaken, these ladies also participated in the Gomberetto Festival in August and it was a pleasure to see them knitting, crocheting then. I enjoyed chatting to them about their work. I love the needlework on their clothes.
They look great, these skills need to be kept alive.
It was a lot of fun. I was there on saturday. More pics at https://longoio2.wordpress.com/2015/09/20/back-to-toyland/
What a gala event! Those little kids are so cute…and the stilt walkers. My hat goes off to them!
The children all seemed to be having a great time.
A great event for all ages.
It was indeed.
I love seeing all your beautiful pictures! I was born in Gombereto and would love to see pictures of it! Thanks
There is a post on Gombereto. Type Gombereto in the “Search” box or click “The Villages” at the top of the page and see all the villages I have written about. You will find Gombereto.
A fun-fest indeed. … and on a beautiful day!
It was a great weeken of fun and Pinocchio.
It really does look good. Sorry I missed it. Congratulation to whoever organised it. Peggy
It is a good festival and I agree, top marks to whoever organises it. We need a few more like this.
