Late spring seemed like the perfect time for another visit to Riolo.
There is a car park at the bottom of the village and it is a pleasant walk up to the pretty piazza in the centre of town.
There is a fountain where you can get a cool drink of water.
There is a fine collection of interesting doorways and colourful gardens.
Fruit, vegetables and flowers thrive in the hot weather.
There are always great views from the mountain villages.
I met a couple of four legged residents.
On my way out I saw the preparations for next winter…which seems a long way off.
Is this in Emilia Romagna, Debra? Stunning pictures as always. I esp like that green wooden door.
No, Riolo is one of the villages that make up Bagni di Lucca, which is in Tuscany.
I had read something on Riolo Terme in Emilia so I got confused. Yes I know bagni is in Tuscany 🙂 Very cute village!
Another proud little village. Delightful
It would be difficult to pick a favourite in Bagni di Lucca.
Every street, every house in Italian towns or villages has details and these details fascinated me… Sometimes at the windows, or at the doors or in the gardens… Everything art in there… Fascinated me this place and your photographs. And dear Debra, you are going to be a cat & dog photographer, they are so beautiful and so lovely, Thank you dear, Have a nice day, love, nia
Every village has something special to see.
Another lovely little village….I especially like the little courtyard with the geraniums and the mountain views. I don’t think you would every get tired of looking out at the changing seasons on the mountains.
One of the things I love most is the change of seasons. The views change constantly…wonderful.
A very pretty village. Great photos, Deb!
The village look lovely when they are green and lush.
I get a good feeling about this place just from your gorgeous photos. It looks like the sort of place I could be happy.
It is a very pretty village, and the people I met were friendly.
Such a peaceful, picturesque little place. Thank you!
Love the awesome collection of doors!
This is the sweetest little village EV-ER! Looks like a fairy tale. Beautiful!
Love the pictures – My dad grew up in Riolo, Italy. Came to the states at 18 and is still living here now. He will love these pics!
I hope he does. I enjoy my wanderings through the villages of Bagni di Lucca. Spring will be here soon and I will revisit many of them.
