Bagni di Lucca is made up of about 25 small villages. There are 3 along the River Lima which are more populated. Some of the villages scattered around the surrounding mountains are quite small. They are all living villages where people live and work and they are all beautiful. If you look at the top of the page you will see Villages. If you click this you will find a list with a link to the posts I have written about the villages I have visited.
Thanks, Debra. I’m glad to know that the villages are indeed living. I asked because several years ago I read a travel article which was lamenting several lovely villages that no longer were places where people could live and work. I’m happy that Bagni di Lucca is thriving as well as beautiful!
Many of the villages could do with more people and some have lost their shops and bars, but they are all populated and well looked after.
I wish I could live there!
Montefegatesi is a great village. There is an excellent sense of community. It has a shop and a bar where people can gather and have regular activities.
It is really beautiful and worth visiting.
It certainly is. The drive up there is lovely and walking to the top if the villages is excellent.
We delighted in rounding the corner and having beautiful Montefegatesi coming into view. Etched in our minds forever.
It is a stunning village.
It is indeed beautiful! Is it a living village? Can people live and work there?
